I recently took a trip to Southeast Arkansas, visiting towns such as Monticello, Hamburg, and ending in Little Rock. It's a slower paced life where drugstore soda fountains still exist. Victorian homes line several of the streets of Monticello, along with the Trotter House Bed & Breakfast and Drew County Historical Museum. As one can imagine, the small towns of Southeast Arkansas consist of lots of wide open space and beautiful, rustic scenery. I had a good time photo documenting the trip, enjoy.
The Norton Simon Museum
If you are ever in Pasadena, CA, you must visit this museum! It was somewhat of a last minute decision to go, but I am so glad to have visited, and will be back again.
The museum is home to a collection of European paintings and sculptures, ranging from the 14th to the 20th century. I closely viewed the works of artists such as Diego Rivera, Picasso, Rembrandt, Matisse, and Van Gogh. There is also an extensive collection of Asian art, contemporary art, modern art, and sculpture. The outdoor sculpture area is very interesting, and contains a large beautiful pond.
I highly recommend dropping in if you are in the area, or making it a fun weekend destination. Also, the museum is free for students which is great.
Santa Fe
It's been a few years since we last visited Santa Fe in the summer, and I'm itching to go back! What a place. Magical. Beautiful. Artsy...and the list goes on. One of my dearest friends parents head there every summer, and we took the short flight out to visit them. The B&B we stayed at was adorable! It was in walking distance to the main area of town, the Plaza, where you could find museums, shops, restaurants and grassy areas. We did a lot of sightseeing and walking around, which included visiting the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Loretto Chapel, the funky little town of Madrid, and lots of other places. The wildfires were out-of-control this summer, which I took a few photos of. I had a great time photo documenting the trip, which you can view below.
Ray at Night
One of my favorite art events here in San Diego is Ray at Night. Living a few short blocks from Ray Street in North Park is a huge bonus. The art walk happens on the second Saturday of every month, and features local and nationally known artists at the over 25 gallery and business venues. The lively event showcases local bands, and being offered a glass of wine by the gallery owners is also a common, and nice touch of Ray at Night.

Being a former student of the San Diego Art Department, I was thankful to have my "Melissa" painting featured.
